Rob joined Annabelle's Challenge in May 2017 and attended the world’s first ever Vascular EDS Conference held during the same month at The Village Hotel, Bury.
Annabelle’s Challenge is a UK registered charity supporting families affected by Vascular EDS (VEDS) and Rob was a keen advocate of our work to help others affected by the condition despite his own suffering and the loss of his father and brother to the same condition.
Vascular EDS is a rare genetic connective tissue disorder caused by an alteration, also known as a mutation, in a gene called COL3A1. This gene is the instruction for making collagen type III. When the gene is altered it causes a lack or deficiency of this collagen.
It affects all tissues, arteries and internal organs making them extremely fragile and is estimated to affect 740 people in the UK.
Rob was one of our main supporters hosting his annual Eurovision party to raise awareness and funds for REDS4VEDS and Annabelle's Challenge. He would have attended this year's Conference however it clashed with his Eurovision 2022 party on the same day. Even during the first lockdown Rob managed to raise £940 for his charity which is incredible.
Over the last five years’ Rob has raised thousands for Annabelle’s Challenge and we are deeply grateful for his unwavering support for the VEDS community with the help and generosity of his friends and family.
Rob’s legacy will continue and funds raised for Annabelle’s Challenge will help us help others living with Vascular EDS through Education, Research and Support.
Rest in Peace Robert from all of us at Annabelle's Challenge.
